Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM) Extends Felicitations on Pakistan Independence Day

August 13, 2024 : Altaf Ahmed Bhat, Chairman of the Jammu Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM), extends warm congratulations to the people and government of Pakistan on the occasion of Pakistan Independence Day.

Chairman Bhat conveyed his best wishes for Pakistan’s economic and financial stability, recognizing that a prosperous Pakistan is crucial for fostering regional peace and development. He highlighted that economic growth in Pakistan could significantly impact the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, envisioning a future where such stability contributes to the well-being and pursuit of justice and self-determination for Kashmiris.

In his statement, Chairman Bhat reaffirmed the Kashmiri people’s ongoing struggle for freedom from Indian occupation and their alignment with Pakistan’s cause. He urged the Pakistani government and its citizens to continue their support for the Kashmir issue until it reaches a just resolution—freedom from the Indian occupation.

While celebrating Pakistan’s independence, Chairman Bhat also addressed the economic and financial restrictions imposed by the Modi-led BJP government in India since August 5, 2019. He condemned the suppression of Kashmiri youth, which has led to loss of lives, disrupted education, and stifled economic activities, severely impacting the Kashmiri population’s livelihood and future prospects.

“The targeted oppression of Kashmiri youth and the deliberate halt of economic activities are punitive measures against Kashmir’s legitimate demand for freedom and its aspiration to align with Pakistan,” Chairman Bhat stated.

He reaffirmed the resilience of the Kashmiri people amid adversity and called for global awareness and intervention to address the ongoing injustices faced by the Kashmiri population. Chairman Bhat urged the international community to stand against these violations and support the Kashmiri quest for self-determination.
