Doctors Without Borders, an NGO, saved 190 migrants from a boat off the coast of Libya, including several from Pakistan. (MSF).

Following a warning from a wooden boat, MSF successfully saved 190 people on Friday night, according to a tweet from the organisation. After leaving Libya’s Zawiya, the migrants were rescued around 20 hours later.

There were additional migrants from Bangladesh, Egypt, Eritrea, Syria, and Palestine. On Sunday evening (March 26), the MSF vessel Geo Barents transported all the migrants to the port of Bari in southern Italy.

Toseef, a 25-year-old Pakistani man, sung a love song to his wife, who is still there with their 5-month-old boy, after the ship had docked.

Yaser, a 36-year-old Pakistani, explained to MSF that he went to Libya in search of employment. He claimed that visiting Europe had never been on his agenda.

“They fed us once per day. They instructed us to drink the water from the toilet if we begged for water. We lost to them. My phone was taken, and they called my relatives to demand money. I was able to flee because my family paid for it, said Yaser.

“At 1:30 am, we departed the coast. Before we were rescued, we had spent 24 hours at sea. I feel much better now, but I also have a lot of responsibility. My family purchased my ransom since my sibling is ill. I need to be able to assist him as soon as I can. I desire a job and a respectable life. I desire freedom. I no longer desire to be a prisoner. I just need some calm and tranquillity. Added he.
