Shahi Daal Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Split green gram 250 gm
  • Split red lentil 250 gm
  • Oil ¼ cup
  • Ginger garlic crushed 1 tbsp heaped
  • Green chilies chopped 2
  • Tomato chopped 1
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Allspice 1 tsp
  • Coriander crushed 1 tsp
  • Crushed red pepper 1 tsp
  • Turmeric ½ tsp
  • Chili powder ½ tsp
  • Cumin 1 tsp
  • Cream 1 tbsp
  • Butter 2 ounce
  • Coriander leaves for garnish
  • Green chilies for garnish
  • Ingredients For Temper:
  • Pure clarified butter ¼ cup
  • Ginger julienne 2tbsp
  • Garlic julienne 2 tbsp
  • Butter 2 ounce cut into small cubes
  • METHOD:
  • Boil both the lentils together in 1 cup water till tender but not mushy. Heat ¼ cup oil in a handi, add crushed ginger garlic, chopped green chilies, tomato chopped, fry well, add all the dry spices, cream, mix well, add boiled lentils with 2 ounce butter.
  • METHOD FOR TEMPER:
  • Heat ¼ cup pure clarified butter in a fry pan, add ginger garlic sliced, when golden pour tadka on top with cubes of butter, serve garnished with chopped coriander and green chilies.
