Source code for Twitter leaked; company files case in California court

Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, is looking for information on the person who exposed some portions of the source code that forms the basis of his social media platform Twitter, according to a report on Monday.

The source code was made available on the GitHub website, which is operated by Microsoft.

The code was taken down at Twitter’s request.

In a second statement, Elon Musk said that his company was not worth the $44 billion he paid for it when he first acquired it. He stated that the value of his company is $20 billion.

A spokeswoman for Github stated, “GitHub normally doesn’t comment on decisions to remove information. But we publicly release every DMCA [Digital Millennium Copyright Act] take-down request in the interest of openness.

The US passed the DMCA statute in 1998 to safeguard copyrighted content online.

Additionally, Twitter urged GitHub to provide details about the account owner, FreeSpeechEnthusiast, who was in charge of the leak.

A California-based social networking platform, according to court documents, requested on March 24 that Github be required to provide “All identifying information” related to the source of the breach.

Twitter stated that it violated the business’s copyrights.

Elon Musk, a millionaire, now faces a new problem after firing half of the company’s employees and seeing advertisers leave.

Musk, the CEO of both Twitter and Tesla, was cited as saying: “I see a clear, but difficult, path to a >$250B valuation,” implying a valuation increase of more than ten times.
