As Indian army missiles misfire during military drills, explosions occur in Rajasthan

NEW DELHI: During a military exercise taking place in the state of Rajasthan, in India’s north, another missiles misfire was recorded.

According to media reports in India, three surface-to-air missiles misfired during training exercises near Jaisalmer and were unable to hit their intended targets because of a technical issue.

The missiles misfired, striking fields in several areas and setting off massive explosions that alarmed Pakistan, a neighbour country. There haven’t been any recorded casualties in the interim.

Two of the three misfired missiles’ debris was found by officials, but the third missile is still missing. According to a representative for the Indian defense, an investigation has been opened, and appropriate further steps will be done.

Three air force officers were fired by New Delhi last year after they “accidentally” launched a missile into Pakistan. Tensions between the two bitter adversary nations grew after the occurrence. The Modi-led administration raised the alarm about a technical issue during normal maintenance as Islamabad asked Indians to be aware of the unfavourable effects of such carelessness and to prevent such a repeat.

The Indian army is renowned for its haphazard tactics, and Pakistan, China, and other neighbours have expressed concern about India’s ability to control nuclear weapons.
